In 2020 the GMCA worked with partners the Central Victorian Greenhouse Alliance, the Western Alliance for Greenhouse Action, the Eastern Alliance for Greenhouse Action and the Electric Vehicle Council of Australia, to involve 43 regional councils and 11 metropolitan councils in the 'Charging the Regions' project. This project which was funded by local governments, and the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning, sought to examine the multiple complex factors required for implementing an electric vehicle charging system throughout regional Victoria. Consultant NDEVR Environmental was contracted to the project.
