The Goulburn Murray Climate Alliance works with its Members to manage and support key projects stemming from our four year Strategic Plan. Often the GMCA will partner with other Victorian Greenhouse Alliances to scale the impact of avoided emissions, and maximise the financial savings of bulk purchases across more organisations.
Within our Goulburn-Upper Murray region, our GMCA projects have stopped nearly 50,000 tonnes of CO2-e being emitted into the atmosphere since 2011. This equates to avoiding the use of more than 25,000 tonnes of coal. What's more, efficiency brings financial savings, and collectively GMCA members have saved more than $13.5 million since 2007 due to their climate action efforts. Of course, many councils have undertaken major individual emissions mitigation efforts, adding to collective efforts and global targets.
