GMCA councils, led by Strathbogie Shire Council, will finalise research into climate adaptive public urban plantings which will guide the 13 municipalities into the future.
Urban Forest Consulting is currently in the process of benchmarking existing urban forest management practices, identifying opportunities and areas for change.
Thorough research is also occurring into creating contemporary listings of climate-adaptive, urban suited tree species for the Goulburn Murray region, based on current ecological vegetation communities, other localised data such as water availability and council capacity, and with the guidance from the appointed Project Control Group.
From this, a suite of resources will flow, including a set of Urban Forest Guidelines for different municipalities, a curated species listing for each region, as well as a seminar and webinars with further opportunity for operational information.
The final report will be uploaded post March 2022.
