The GMCA implemented the Local Government Sustainability Training Program in 2013. The program aimed to assist Local Government authorities in the Goulburn Broken region to integrate learnings about sustainability into Council’s operations in order to build their capacity to lead their communities in responding to the region’s climate change adaptation and mitigation priorities.
A three stage training program was delivered to member Councils. The program included:
Measuring and Managing Carbon in Local Government Workshop Aimed at assisting Councils identify, measure and report on their carbon emissions and identify and develop strategies to reduce carbon emissions.
Sustainable Decision Making Workshop Featured a top-down and bottom-up approach to embed sustainability into the leadership, decision making and day-to-day operations of Councils, senior management teams and Councillors.
Sustainability and Climate Change Workshop Assist Local Government employees to develop their knowledge, skills and attitudes on sustainability and climate change challenges.
